Actor Dax Shepard is in bad shape after a motorcycle accident at Sonoma Raceway.
The star will now have to undergo surgery after having multiple broken bones on the California track.
Shepard opened up about the accident in his podcast “Armchair Expert,” and revealed how it happened. “I passed six guys at Sonoma Raceway on a motorcycle and I braked very, very hard, hard enough that the rear wheel was for a good 100 yards off the ground,” he explained. “I was completely to blame. I thought I could push in between, but one turned her in and I was already under a lot of brakes and I couldn’t go any further.”
After hitting the other rider’s bumper, he “went” over the steering wheel “and landed hard.
He was sitting in hot water with railroad staff, saying, ‘They really let me have it and I was too injured to object, so I just took it on the chin. ‘
Dax waited until the next day to check out, which led to a seven-hour hospital visit. He told fans, “The final count was four broken ribs, the collarbones are broken in three places, and I need surgery. And then I broke my hand that I had broken a few months ago.”
Shepard felt bad because he scared his wife Kristen Bell and podcast co-host Monica Padman. He said of riding motorcycles, “I do not think I will stop, but I think I may be ready to stop for the rest of 2020.”
The alum “Parenthood” posted a photo of his injuries on Instagram and wrote, “Thank you Armcherries for all the well-being and worries. I am in one piece and spirits are high 🙂 Sorry for worries.”
Back in May, Kristen opened up to Ellen DeGeneres about Dax’s off-road accident in an ATV.
‘He was sitting on the edge of a cliff and he raised his hand to look out and the weight of his arm tipped his Polaris RZR. ” The actress said, before making a rolling motion with her hands.
The ‘Frozen’ star said: ‘You do not get injured when you are in them, but I will tell you something, it has crushed all the bones in his hand.’
