Dax Shepard suffered multiple broken bones after colliding with other cars during a recent motorcycle race and will have to undergo surgery.
The actor discussed the accident in Monday’s episode of his podcast “Armchair Expert”.
“I ran over six guys at Sonoma Raceway on a motorcycle and I braked very, very hard – hard enough that the rear wheel was off the ground for a good 100 yards,” Shepard, 45, recalled.

He went on to say, “I was completely to blame. I thought I could slip in between, but one turned her in and I was already under a lot of brakes and I couldn’t go any further.”
The ‘Parenthood’ actor revealed that he ‘went over the steering wheel’ after he cut the bumper of another car and ‘came pretty hard’.
Shepard called the motorcycle accident a “bit demoralizing” because it was his first time on that race track.
The ‘Without a Paddle’ actor said he was “thoroughly shouted at” by the track staff, but he was “too injured to object.”

Despite the collision with the motorcycle, Shepard returned to the racetrack for “two sessions” after hitting his shoulder and hand.
He found the injuries “too painful by the end”, so he shot the ride short. The actor waited until the next day before seeking medical attention.
Shepard spent seven hours in the hospital and found that he had broken a significant amount of bones. “The final count was four broken ribs, the collarbones are broken in three places, and I need surgery,” he said on the podcast.
The actor also injured one of the four fingers he had broken in May while traveling with a friend. He joked that the new injury was “good news” considering the rest of his broken bones.

Shepard on Wednesday posted photos of his body with bruises from the collision.
“Thank you Archers for all the well-being and care,” he added. “I’m in one piece and spirits are high 🙂 Sorry for worrying.”
