David Gilmour releases ‘Yes, I have ghosts’, his first new song in five years

Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour has shared the new single ‘Yes, I Have Ghosts’, which marks the legendary guitarist’s first original song in five years.

The song was first revealed by Gilmour last month on the audiobook of A theater for dreamers, a new novel by Gilmour’s wife and longtime collaborator Polly Samson.

It was originally exclusive to Samson’s novel, but the release marks the first time it’s been available as a separate track, a week after the audiobook’s initial release.

“Polly’s vivid and poetic writing, coupled with her very natural narrative voice, joined forces to produce the audio version of A theater for dreamers a fantastic and satisfying experience, “Gilmour said in a statement.

“The audiobook format has a lot of untapped potential, and I am amazed that more musicians have not collaborated creatively with authors, storytellers, and producers of audiobooks in this way before. The two worlds seem to link seamlessly, and music can really help bring audiobooks to life in new and unexpected ways. “

Gilmour has also been kept busy during the lockdown with solo songs by his former bandmate, the late Syd Barrett.

‘Octopus’, one of the songs covered by Gilmour, appeared on the band’s 1970 co-founder album ‘The Madcap Laughs’. ‘Dominoes’ also appeared in ‘Barrett’, which was released in the same year.
