Leading actors Daniel Kaluuya and Lakeith Stanfield will deliver starring performances in an upcoming cinematic remake of the life and murder of Black Panther Fred Hampton, as a newly released trailer for the film is every indication.

On Thursday Warner Brothers shared a trailer for the film, Judas and the Black Messiah, which is produced by Ryan Coogler and shows the incidents that led to the murder of Hampton in 1969 in a hail of bullets at home by police in Chicago.

BAFTA Award winner Daniel Kaluuya dies as the Black Revolutionary alongside Lakeith Stanfield, who plays the role of FBI informant William O’Neal, who helped engineer the murder.

But enough preface; the trailer sells the movie better than any written description:

In the trailer, a pulsating drum fixes the stakes, while Kaluuya delivers speeches as the chairman of the Black Panther Party, declaring, ‘You can kill a revolutionary, but you can not kill a revolution. You can kill a freedom fighter, but you can not kill the freedom. ”

Kaluuya and Stanfield worked together in 2017s Get out, while Ryan Coogler has set up his chops in telling stories in which Black people are centered around the critically acclaimed Fruitvale Station, de Creed movies, and even MCUs Black panther.

Judas and the Black Messiah will be the first studio film for director Shaka King, reports the Hollywood Reporter, and is scheduled to premiere in theaters in 2021.

Hopefully we can then enjoy (and safe) movies from theaters in that theater again. However, we will definitely look into this.
