‘Danger!’ Champion Buzzy Cohen wants to host the show when Alex Trebek retires, but does he really have a chance?


Buzzy Cohen is next? Danger! host? He dominated nine games in a row and is the winner of the 2017 Tournament of Champions. His jokes make him polarize among fans of the game show.

Some love his more relaxed attitude and others, not so much. Cohen says he wants to host Danger! when Alex Trebek retires, but does he really have a chance to be the next face of “America’s favorite quiz contest”? Read on to know more about him.

First appearing in Danger! In 2016, Cohen breaks the mold when he stands behind a podium and responds to the clues Trebek gave him. Throughout the game, find ways to show your personality. Cohen celebrates his victories and mocks Trebek.

One of his most memorable moments comes in Final Jeopardy when, instead of betting money, Cohen makes his answers to the two-part trivia question a key point. “What is until tomorrow, Trebek?” and “Who are you you still haven’t freed me from me, Trebek?” They are his answers.

Some Danger! Fans enjoy the dose of fun that Cohen brings to the competition. Others feel that they are not taking the game seriously. Either way, he leaves Danger! with over $ 100,000 in earnings and a new nickname. Trebek refers to him as “Mr. Personality.”

As Cohen said, there are probably many people waiting to be selected to follow in Trebek’s footsteps like Danger! host. Taking on the television personality show after decades of award-winning programming is no easy feat.

Los Angeles advertising music executive Cohen had never hosted a game show before. Sure, he has experience being an attractive contestant on the show.

But he has never controlled the flow of the game in front of a studio audience with cameras rolling. Chances are that people in Danger! will avoid Cohen for a candidate who has more camera experience.

Could attract new viewers to ‘Danger!’

Even though Cohen is not the obvious choice for the concert, Cohen could usher in a new era of show business. Although he has no experience as a host, he could draw a younger audience to the award-winning show with his playful demeanor. But it has stiff competition.

Trebek once said that his “dream choice” to succeed him is Betty White. And even though Canadian-American television personality says he has no say in who will replace him as host, his blessing is probably very helpful.

For now, Trebek continues to host Danger! as it has since 1984.
