The talk show host is worried about that mayor of the city after Oliver had some not so nice things to say during a recent episode of his show.
Danbury appeared in the August 16 episode of “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” on HBO (which is owned by parent company CNN).
Oliver discussed racial differences when it comes to jury selection and one of his examples took place in Connecticut. Speaking of that state, he took a jab in one of the towns – Danbury – and replied that it was not the most impressive place to live.
“I know exactly three things about Danbury,” the host said. “USA Today ranked it as the second-best city to live in in 2015. It was once the center of the American hat industry and once you get out of it, you have a standing invitation to come from a thrashing of John Oliver.”
Some of his other comments contained a bit of language that was not appropriate for a family friendly site.
Boughton stood in front of the city sewer, saying, “We’ll name it John Oliver Memorial Sewer Plant … Why? Because it’s full of (crap) just like you, John.”
CNN reached out to Oliver for comment.
