Mayor Mark Boughton / Facebook
John Oliver took a little shot at a small town in Connecticut, and they just took one of their own in the funny fashion … assumed a sewer to the host of the talk show.
Mayor Mark Boughton from Danbury, CT posted a video on his Facebook page this weekend, responding to John’s dirty dismissal from his hometown … of which ‘Last Week Tonight’ took aim … seemingly pleasing about how kitsch and nice it is.
John talks about how various cities and states in the American selection process for bot jury by virtually guaranteeing all-white jurors … often shake people of color. He noted two racial differences in Connecticut jurisdictions that are often overlooked for jury selection … and then randomly launched into this hate bit at Danbury.
It was all in the fun, and it does not seem that John has any real enmity against the city or its people. In our eyes, the tangent of Danbury simply serves to lighten the mood.
Well, it looks like the mayor took it personally … and literally went out of his way to respond, saying he would officially repeat the sewerage of the city to JO himself. In his own words, Mayor Boughton says of the move, “Why ??? Because it’s full of s ***. Just like you, John.”
Talk about rubbing salt in my wounds – d’oh!
