Madison, Wiz. – Dan County Clerk Scott McDonnell tweeted Saturday night that the county’s presidential election count is over after eight days. McDonnell said officers will visit Sunday to reconcile with some specific information and prepare their data for certification, a process that will begin Sunday morning through the Dan County Board of Canvas.
McDonnell tweeted on Friday that he expects to wrap up the countdown to a possible Sunday this weekend.
Both Dan and Milwaukee counties began their recount processes last Friday and took Thanksgiving Day leave; Milwaukee finished their count Friday evening. Both have also seen their processes slow through a number of challenges through the Trump campaign.
McDonnell tweeted at 4:30 pm on Saturday that there was only one last “final distance” and said “there is still a lot to do but very close.”
Some of the key objections to the Trump campaign include about 19,000 indefinite limited absentee ballots, as well as about 16,000 absentee ballots returned during Madison’s Democracy at the Park event. Ken Meyer, a professor of political science at UW-Madison, says long-term legal theory can be found in the direction of serious challenges facing voters following the current election law.
President-elect Joe Biden’s lead has risen to 132 votes after Milwaukee County election officials counted more than 450,000 votes.
The full calculation process has been made open to the public and stline online livestream.
