Dalvin Cook apparently did NOT speak to Mike Zimmer

Earlier today, we talked about Mike Zimmer’s press conference to talk about the length of his contract. During that press conference, he was asked about the Dalvin Cook corridor, and told reporters that Cook himself had assured Zimmer that he would be in Eagan when training camp began on Saturday. It seemed that the crisis had been avoided.

But since this is the Minnesota Vikings, there is never a crisis. Really avoided, right? It’s kind of like temporarily pushed.

This tweet came from ESPN journalist Adam Schefter about half an hour ago:

Well then.

Cook’s agent is now on record saying that his client never spoke to Zimmer on the subject of showing up at the camp. If this is true, as much as I like Mike Zimmer. . This is not the best way to start your new contract.

We know Cook is a vital part of the Vikings’ offense, which comes from his best season as a pro, and has seen a couple of big name riders get laden trucks on their laps this offseason in Derrick Henry and Christian McCaffrey That Cook is trying to get a contract extension for the last year of his rookie contract is no surprise, and he has apparently gained more influence with some of the new rules the league has put in its negotiations to start the season. during the COVID-19 crisis.

The fact that Cook would apparently show up to camp on time was reasonable evidence that an extension of the contract would be made and that both parties would live happily ever after. However, now the whole situation seems to have fallen into chaos again.

Hopefully, one way or another, all of this can be resolved and we can forget that it ever happened. Being the Vikings, though, I’m not sure it’s something we should anticipate.
