Dakota Johnson is such a popular actor at the moment. She has been in a big franchise, but also has such a range of genres under her belt. From intense horror to independent, heartfelt films, Johnson has quite the resume. Not to mention, she is good at her craft.
With that said, she also has a very interesting tribe; she comes from a family of actors, many of whom may not know the extent of it. So, here are the famous people who raised them.

Melanie Griffith
Johnson’s mother is Melanie Griffith, who was famously known as Tess McGill in Working girl in the 1980s. That won her a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award nomination. Griffith made several films and later appeared in many TV shows in the 2000s.
Johnson’s first role in a film was in her mother’s film, Crazy in Alabama, which was also directed by her then father, Antonio Banderas. While Griffith had a lead role in the film, Johnson was just a child and she played one of her children along with her half-sister, Stella Banderas.
Don Johnson
Don Johnson is the father of Dakota Johnson and has been trading since the late 1960s. He appeared in several movies and a ton of television shows. But he is best known for his role as James “Sonny” Crockett in Miami Vice in the 1980s, which won him a Golden Globe Award and an Emmy nomination. He has also been collaborating lately Knives out as Richard Drysdale (who married in the family through Jamie Lee Curtis’ character Linda).
Johnson and Griffith met when she was 14, married and then divorced 6 months later, according to Yahoo. They remarried in 1989 and remarried in about seven years, and Dakota Johnson was born in 1989.
Tippi Hedren
Hedren is the grandmother of Dakota Johnson and the mother of Griffith. She was first a model, and then became a fairly popular actor after Alfred Hitchcock threw her in The birds, one of his most popular horror films. Hedren went on to die with it Marnie and soap operas as well The Bold and the Beautiful.
One of the more eccentric things about Hedren is that she owned many large cats in the ’60s and’ 70s, which helped in the filming of Roar, one of the most dangerous movies to film. It stars Hedren and ex-husband Noel Marshall, along with Griffith, who had to undergo reconstructive surgery after being put on by one of the wild cats. In a recent interview with De Graham Norton Show, Johnson revealed that Hedren still has about 13 or 14 big cats, but does not have the massive connection anymore as before.
Antonio Banderas
While Antonio Banderas is by blood not related to Johnson, he was a ‘bonus dad’ for the actor for almost 20 years. Banderas married Griffith in 1996 and because of a stiffness from Johnson, someone she looks back on with joy. And even though Banderas and Griffith divorced in 2015, Johnson still sees himself as a father figure. She gave a very moving speech at the Hollywood Film Awards in November, and still calls him “Papi.”
“I come from a family with a lot of marriages and I was very lucky,” Johnson said when she presented Banderas with the award for his work in Pain and Glory. She called Banderas “one of the most influential people in my entire life.”
