Cyberpunk 2077 Developer CD Project Red (CDPR) is bringing an update to the game that may reduce the likelihood of some sequences to induce epilepsy symptoms. The dangers of seizures came to light Game Informant Editor Liana Rappert earlier this week. The 1.04 hotfix is now live on PlayStation consoles and PCs, and CDPR is working to bring an “as soon as possible” update to the Xbox.
CDPR says it has changed the way its “Braindness” sequence appears. During this sequence, a device is placed in front of your character’s eyes that glows red and white light. The effect is similar to what real neurologists do to stimulate an attack for diagnosis, according to Rupert, who reported that he had epilepsy while playing the game.
According to the CDPR’s patch notes, the flashing effect during Braindons “slowed down and decreased brightness in frequency and dimension.” Rappert said he worked with the studio this week to help test the fix. “I think a lot of Wii and non-Wii feel safe in this # Cyberpunk 2077,” Said the rapper.
I’m away from socials today but I’m so thrilled to see this change! I worked with CDPR earlier this week to test some landmark animations and I think this makes many Wii and epileptics feel safe. # Cyberpunk 2077.
