Cyberpunk 2077 Developers Report CDPR Leadership Over Crunch and Launch Issues

CD Project Red Developers who have worked on Cyberpunk 2077 have tackled the leadership team on issues including toughness and tough launch of the game. As reported by Bloomberg, the “frustrated and angry staff” questioned CD Project Red management during a recent internal video meeting and asked questions about unrealistic deadlines, mandatory crunch and more.

The meeting came ahead of Sony’s announcement that it would only refund people who were offended by Cyberpunk 2077’s performance, but would indefinitely remove the game from the PS store. When asked about the crunch, the directors said they plan to improve the production process, but did not give details of what steps they will take to make it happen.

CD Project Red’s comments in January 2020 also countered that Cyberpunk 2077 was “complete and playable” despite the game’s delay. The board responded that “it will take responsibility.”

Another developer asked if CDPR directors felt it was hypocritical to make a game about corporate exploitation when they expected their employees to work longer hours. The reaction was vague and dishonest. “
While early PC reviews of Cyberpunk 2077 were overwhelmingly positive, the storyline changed rapidly, especially on the PS4 and Xbox One units when the console version was tested.

Following this messy messaging of the launch of Cyberpunk 2077, CD Project Red, Sony and Microsoft have all decided to give money back to those who are annoyed with the performance of the game.
