Cuyahoga County has received more than 500 mask complaints since Friday

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cuyahoga County has received at least 500 mask complaints since 3 pm Friday, when its complaint hotline and website opened, according to the county.

Most of the complaints were related to violations of Governor Mike DeWine’s mask order in businesses or public places around Cuyahoga County, as opposed to people who don’t wear masks, county spokeswoman Mary Louise Madigan said.

Madigan could not immediately say how many complaints the county responded to, saying that the process did not begin until Monday morning.

The county intends to respond to every complaint, Madigan said. Once a complaint is filed, the county intends to contact the subject of the complaint, the municipality where the violation occurred and the Board of Health, County Executive Armond Budish said Friday, when it first announced the county compliance plan details.

Individuals can report violations of the Governor’s Mask Order in Cuyahoga County by calling 216-698-5050, or filing a complaint online at whosehogacounty.us/maskexperience.
