CONNECTICUT – We got a one-day break from the hot and humid weather on Friday and then returned to 90-degree weather this weekend, which is forecast to continue early next week.
In addition to the ongoing heat and humidity, the weather pattern looks largely calm this weekend in the prevailing sunlight. There is a 30 percent chance of storms in southern Connecticut this afternoon, but that’s it.
Tuesday appears to be our next opportunity for widespread thunderstorms. On Monday, the northern areas of the state may approach 100 degrees.
Thunderstorms on Thursday left thousands of residents without power, caused road flooding, and knocked down trees and utility poles in areas such as Vernon, Farmington, Hartford, Tolland, Windsor Locks, according to storm reports from the National Weather Service.
A lightning strike caused a small electrical fire in Bethel and the trees were felled in Orange, reports the weather service.
