FRISCO – Pass-rusher of big names Everson Griffen is in DFW, is going through tests of COVID-19, and could be on the practice field here at The Star in Frisco until Tuesday. In anticipation of that, the Dallas Cowboys awaited second-year defensive end Jalen Jelks on Sunday.
Griffen, the 32-year-old defensive end, had long been a star with the Minnesota Vikings as one of the most decorated businessmen of this era. But Griffen also has a history of personal problems that made him less attractive than he would otherwise be.

Griffen actually missed five games in 2018 due to some of those issues. But he did rebound in 2019 with eight sacks and the fourth Pro Bowl nod of his career. However, after giving himself a $ 75 million six-year contract in 2017, the Vikings said goodbye this spring.
The former All-Pro has played at least 15 games in eight of his last nine seasons, and he has had at least eight sacks in six of his last eight years. In Dallas, he will join a D-line crew marked by DeMarcus Lawrence, Gerald McCoy, Dontari Poe and Aldon Smith – all of whom, like Griffen, have relaunched the Pro Bowl.

The Cowboys also have a talented and versatile veteran in Tyrone Crawford. And they have some hope that Randy Gregory can be re-elected by the NFL commissioner’s office.

Griffen’s one-year deal alone has a base salary of $ 3 million, with $ 3 million more available inoster bonus. Jelks, a seventh-round pick from 2019 from Oregon, spent last season here at IR.
