Cowboys’ La’el Collins in minor car accident, sources say

The right tackle of Dallas Cowboys La’el Collins was on Thursday in a minor car accident that kept him off the field, but he is on training ground with the team, according to multiple sources.

Collins worked on the sidelines at the start of training camp because he suffered a soft-tissue injury.

It is not yet clear if the accident will affect Collins’ ability to return to the field sooner rather than later.

The Cowboys were in practice on Thursday without their top three approach with Tyron Smith sitting after repairing his hamstring. He went through some individual drills before leaving before the team moved the session to Ford Center.

Cameron Erving, who was signed to be the backup at both tackles as a free agent, has yet to practice due to an illness, but is expected to be able to get some work back soon.

Without the three approaches, Wyatt Miller and Terence Steele worked on the left approach instead of Smith and Brandon Knight took work on the right approach for Collins. The Cowboys added Pace Murphy to the roster on Tuesday and this was his first practice.

Dak Prescott takes a larger picture of the escapes of Collins, Smith and Erving.

“I think it just makes me a better player, to be honest,” Prescott said. “We know what th

the boys, the starters, the famous starters, we know what they’re about. They have played and they have been great and been in this league for a while, so no worries in that sense. “
