BENCHMARKS FOR REOPENING PAUSED BUSINESSES
The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHD) has announced public health recommendations for the possible safe reopening of disruptive businesses in the state of Arizona. Businesses currently include gyms and fitness clubs / centers, indoor theaters, water parks and tubing operators, and bars.
ADHS has collaborated with several of these sectors on guidelines for a possible reopening and recommends the following plan based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance, the Week Home Coronavirus Task Force metrics, and expert advice from the medical and public health community.
The benchmarks are divided into minimum, moderate and substantial transmission categories as defined by the CDC. Using public health data to inform these benchmarks, Arizona is currently in the substantial transfer phase. Yavapai and La Paz are the only Arizona counties in moderate to minimal transmission phases.
Following this initial two-week review, ADHD advises that these limitations be kept in mind for the time being, but provides the following metrics on the map below for industry leaders and companies to understand when a general reshuffle could be considered . Companies have the opportunity through the certification process to evaluate individual circumstances if they are denied the opportunity to reopen for reasons of public health.
All three of the following benchmarks must be met within 14 days, with a reporting period of 12 days for reporting to move from a higher transmission phase to a lower one.
Upon renewal, all sectors must implement the safety protocols and guidelines prescribed by ADHD and must submit an attestation form stating that they are compliant. The attestation form will be placed at a visible location in the facility. Additional details can be found in the ADHS COVID-19 Guidance for Businesses at https://www.azdhs.gov.
