Two pools in Westchester have been temporarily closed due to concern over the spread of COVID-19.
The Westchester County Health Department announced that the Mount Pleasant pools in Valhalla and Hommocks Pool in Mamaroneck are temporarily closed after workers tested positive for the virus or were very close to someone exposed to COVID-19.
Authorities said the pool’s employees are isolating themselves at home and have not been in the pools for days.
“As part of its response, the Health Department inspects the pools, reviews the records, interviews those who tested positive to identify other exposed individuals, and contacts them to alert them of their exposure and their need to quarantine and be tested.” County officials said.
Greenburgh City Supervisor Paul Feiner warned Westchester residents to be careful as the COVID-19 outbreak is still ongoing.
“Because we all have COVID-19 fatigue, we want to believe that life has returned to normal,” he said. “Although New York State is better than most states and there are fewer deaths and positive tests, people still get sick.
“Please be careful,” he continued. “Tell family members, friends, and neighbors to keep a social distance, not to touch their faces, wash their hands, wear masks when they are around people. Many people think the pandemic is over. OR they act like they are. They don’t. “
