MACOMB Ill. (WGEM) – The McDonough County Health Department (MCHD) reported an outbreak of COVID-19 at the Wesley Christian Child Development Center in Macomb.
MCHD officials said the protocols of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have been implemented. Public health officials have followed up on contacts in an effort to reduce the risk of further transmission.
The Center has been temporarily closed to allow recommended disinfection by the Illinois Department of Public Health and evaluation of staff and families served.
MCHD officials said an updated list of symptoms reported among COVID-19 patients includes mild to severe respiratory illness with fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of sense of taste and / or smell, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea.
As we continue to see our positive local COVID-19 case count increase, MCHD officials said it is increasingly important to take precautions to minimize disease transmission.
MCHD urges all residents to continue to wear cloth face covers and to practice physical distance in public for the health and safety of the entire community. Cloth face covers, when used properly, are an important source of control to prevent asymptomatic people from inadvertently spreading the virus to others.
