COVID-19 in Pa: positive coronavirus cases exceed 100.00, deaths exceed 7,000 in Pennsylvania


HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania (WPVI) – The total number of positive COVID-19 cases in Pennsylvania since the pandemic began has exceeded 100,000.

On Saturday, the state Department of Health confirmed 763 additional positive cases, bringing the state total to 100,241.

There were 15 new deaths reported, totaling 7,007.

The department says the number of tests administered in the last seven days between July 11-17 is 142,110 with 5,552 positive cases.

There were 19,399 test results reported to the department as of 10 p.m., July 17.

The health department says that there are 637 patients who have a positive serology test and symptoms of COVID-19 or a high-risk exposure, which are considered probable and unconfirmed cases.

There are 912,486 patients who have tested negative to date.

Most hospitalized patients are 65 years of age or older, and most deaths have occurred in patients 65 years of age or older.

The department says it is seeing significant increases in the number of COVID-19 cases among younger age groups, particularly those 19-24 years old.
