A Kentucky infectious disease specialist who forced local callers to wear masks has died after a four-month battle with Covid-19.
Dr .. Rebecca Shadowen (2), Coronavirus Epidemic U.S. Raising his voice to wear a mask from the very early stages of arrival, posting on social media about it, his family told NBC.
She was also a leading member of the Bowling Green-Warren County Coronavirus Workgroup when she found herself ill in May, believing it came from a caregiver treating an elderly relative.
Even after she fell ill, Shadowwen continued to work for the local taskforce – frequently pushing for a local mask ordinance, colleagues at her workplace, the medical center at Bling Ling Green, told NBC.
“People, look, this is not politics,” she said. This is science, “Dennis Cheney, vice president of the Allied Services Medical Center, told NBC. “I heard him say that many times.”
During her four-month battle with the infection – who often saw her on the ventilator and in the ICU – she told her husband’s fellow doctor, Dr. David Shadow, that she continued to work from the hospital bed.
“A lot of times she thought she was turning corners and we think she’s on her way to recovery,” he told NBC.
He was with Shadowin and their two grown children when his wife died on September 11.
“Many children consider their parents to be heroes. The mine was real, ”his daughter, Catherine, 23, told NBC.
