The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 2,043 new positive coronavirus cases on Saturday, bringing the total to 192,622 across the state since the outbreak earlier this year.
This is the 19th consecutive day when the number of cases peaked at 1000. The 2,219 cases reported on Friday are the highest reported in a single day in Pennsylvania; Number 2 was back on April 99.
The increase in testing is contributing to the streak. October. The number of tests performed in the last seven days from 23 is 232,253, of which 5% (11,679) are positive.
Those who tested positive: about 14% are 19-24 years old; 36% are aged 25-29; 21% are 50-64 years old; And 21% are 65 years of age or older.

Since the outbreak, COVID-19 has killed 8,654 people, including 29 reported today. Most of those who died were over 65 years of age.
As of Saturday, 1,087 people across the state had been hospitalized with coronavirus, the department said. That number has doubled in a month. Most of those admitted to the hospital are over 65 years of age.

There are 2,395 cases with a positive viral antigen test and are considered potential cases, and 647 patients who have a positive serology test and are exposed to either Covid-19 symptoms or high-risk exposure.
More than 2.5 million people in the state have tested negative. Also, 78% of those diagnosed have recovered, meaning they are at least 30 days after the onset of symptoms or a positive test.
