Country singer Chase Rice was criticized for playing on the Tennessee ‘packed’ show during the coronavirus spike

Country star Chase Rice has come under fire for hosting a concert in which there apparently are no social distancing measures amid a new coronavirus spike.

The “Eyes on You” singer, who has worked with the Florida Georgia Line over the years, performed at the Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary in Tennessee on Saturday (June 27) night.

As reported by TMZThe venue’s capacity was reduced from 10,000 to 4,000 before the concert, with only around 1,000 people performing and all members of the audience allegedly received temperature controls and hand sanitizer before entering the venue.

However, images shared by Rice on social media suggested that there was little or no social distancing at the concert, while very few members of the audience wore masks.

Responding to the clip, which was taken from Rice’s Instagram story, country music performer Kelsea Ballerini tweeted, “Imagine being selfish enough to risk the health of thousands of people, not to mention the potential effect dominated, and playing a NORMAL country concert right now. “

She continued: “@ChaseRiceMusic, we all want (and need) to tour. We only care about our fans and their families enough to wait. “

Rice intends to continue her tour at various socially distant locations across the United States throughout the summer.

Over the past week, the United States has seen a massive increase in its number of coronavirus cases, and experts warned that a “second wave” will follow after social distancing measures are loosened.

Tennessee, where Rice’s concert took place, saw the highest infection count in history on Friday, with 1,410 new people testing positive for the disease.
