There is still a way to go before the 2020 holiday season arrives, but Hallmark is paying for that, it doesn’t matter. In announcing its plan to air 40 new holiday movies for the holidays, holly, the jolly network has ambitiously scheduled the same number of movies it produced last year in 2019.
However, since the pandemic shows no signs of slowing down, Hallmark’s plans are too Hopeful or will it take a Christmas miracle to save your season?

Could COVID-19 make a less happy Christmas at Hallmark?

The network has not mentioned the possibility that COVID-19 slows down or stops filming of Hallmark’s Christmas projects. The pandemic, hovering over film studios everywhere like unwanted mistletoe, is a reality that could spew coal on Hallmark’s projected number of 40 planned films.
According to EW, “several” of the network’s scheduled movies have completed production. Pre-production is starting in many of the others that are scheduled, for now, to be filmed in time for the holidays, as soon as the studios get the go-ahead to resume work.
Michelle Vicary, executive vice president of programming and network advertising for Crown Media Family Networks, said in a July 15 statement: “The Hallmark brand on television has always championed positivity and emotional connection, and thanks to the dedication of our development teams and producer partners. We are pleased to welcome new talents to both sides of the chamber, as well as to announce the renewal of all our original series and the return of beloved stars. “
