Cottage Health is ready to open the doors to the new urgent care center in Goleta | Local news

Cottage Health will open the doors of the first of 10 new urgent care facilities Tuesday.

Cottage Health Urgent Care Center at Hollister Village in Goleta, 7070 Hollister Ave., Suite 103, will attend appointments and walk-ins 365 days a year from 8 am to 8 pm The center will have certified professional nurses, radiology technicians and clinical concierges .

Center staff will be “dedicated to providing the highest quality care that distinguishes Cottage Health,” said spokeswoman Maria Zate.

It will provide treatment for minor injuries and ailments such as cold and flu symptoms, minor cuts or burns, sprains, and urinary tract infections. X-ray and laboratory services will also be available on-site.

“This particular type of urgent care is truly a consumer-oriented model designed to be fast, efficient, and meet the people where they are,” said Taryn O’Connell, managing director of Cottage Health urgent care operations. “This was something new that we could offer to the community.”

The Urgent Care Center offers what are called point-of-care laboratory tests, in which a quick sample can be taken and analyzed on-site with results ready in five to 10 minutes. Patients can be tested for ailments such as urinary tract infections, strep throat, or the flu.

The concierge staff will guide each patient throughout the duration of their visit, offering water, coffee or tea to ensure they are comfortable. Rather than having multiple staff members perform different tasks during the visit, Cottage Health hopes that staying with a concierge staff member creates a more personal patient experience.

“Something that makes our urgent care unique is that we have this janitor model,” O’Connell said.

The 10 facilities will operate under the same model and will provide the same services. O’Connell said the intention is to make each installation as similar in design and structure as possible, “down to sutures placed in the same drawer.”

The centers will open along the central coast from Camarillo to San Luis Obispo. The next facility will open in Oxnard in late July or early August. About a month later, the Santa María facility will also open its doors to patients.

“Patients can expect the same level of service and quality of care that comes with the Cottage name among all urgent care,” O’Connell said.
