A new study from South Korea found that people were more likely to be infected with the new coronavirus by people inside their own home rather than outsiders, Reuters reports.
The study, released July 16 by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, found reviewed cases of 5,706 people who tested positive for coronavirus, as well as 59,000 people who had contact with those people. .
- 2% of infected people got the coronavirus from someone outside their home.
- 10% hired him from someone inside his home.
- Infection rates increased when the first confirmed cases came from a teenager or people in their 60s and 70s.
“This is probably because these age groups are more likely to be in close contact with family members and the group needs more protection or support,” said Jeong Eun-kyeong, director of the Centers for Control and Korea Disease Prevention and one of the study’s authors, according to Reuters.
The data was collected from January 20 to March 27 as South Korea’s cases were nearing their peak.
