USC conducted a study that infected people are likely to experience fever first. This will be followed by cough and muscle aches, and then nausea, and / or vomiting, and diarrhea.

The information may also help physicians rule out other diseases, or help physicians plan how to treat patients, and perhaps intervene in the disease earlier.
The study, which was published Thursday in the journal Frontiers in Public Health, was led by doctoral candidates Joseph Larsen and scientists Peter Kuhn and James Hicks at the Convergent Science Institute at USC Michelson Center in Cancer.
