Coronavirus outbreak reported after health orders were violated at the California Youth Basketball Tournament

Plekan County health officials say a youth basketball tournament in Rocklin, California has been identified as a source of a coronavirus outbreak that has infected dozens of people, Place County health officials say.

The county alleges that the owners of the Courtside Basketball Center “did not approve of such operations and, despite being advised, refused to cancel tournaments and games, despite the COVID-19 case being linked to the activities of the facility.”

The tournament took place on and on Nov. November, at the center at 1104 Tinker Road in Unlinked Rlin Clin, California.

The county reports that 30 people from multiple counties tested positive for the virus after the incident.

Olajuwun Jones, director of Courtside, told the San Francisco Chronicle that the positive cases all belong to the same team and that he believes he was ill before playing in the tournament.

In September, Pleasure County Public Health Officer Dr. Amy Sisson resigned after the county board of supervisors unanimously decided to end the Covid-19 emergency declaration passed on March 3. She was replaced by interim public health officer Rob Oldham.

Oldham told KCRA this week that county health officials have approached the owner of the basketball center several times in the past several months after the facility continued hosting tournaments.

“Unfortunately, the owner of Courtside Basketball’s has not responded to our reach for several months,” Oldham said.

Officials are now urging anyone visiting the Courtsite Center in November to do so. Advising people attending events 7 and 8 to test and advise for retention.
