Coronavirus: NASA wearable warns you not to touch your face

NASA has invented a new portable device to help you avoid touching your face, something public health experts have warned about since the COVID-19 outbreak began.

What’s going on:

  • NASA has developed a new technology called PULSE, which alerts users when they are about to touch their faces, possibly transmitting the coronavirus from a surface to their bodies.

  • The technology comes in the form of a round pendant. You put it around your neck.
  • When you bring your hand to your head, the device will vibrate and signal you to stop.
  • NASA said: “The haptic feedback from a vibration motor simulates a push, reminding the user to avoid touching these inputs to reduce possible infection.”

  • That said, NASA is not selling the device. However, the company released details on how to build the device on its own.
  • NASA said: “We hope that individuals or companies will reproduce, refine or improve PULSE and make it readily available for distribution.”

Because it is important

  • According to USA Today, the device is intended to help people stop the spread of COVID-19. The coronavirus can be spread through respiratory droplets.
  • Touching surfaces and then touching your face has also been known to spread the virus.

Other device:

  • The NBA has offered players a “smart” ring that can track people’s health data and possibly predict whether the ring wearer is dealing with symptoms of COVID-19 infection, according to CNN. The $ 299 Oura ring can control sleep, pulse, heart activity, and temperature.
