State health officials on Saturday confirmed 1,010 more confirmed and implicated COVID-19 cases as well as two more deaths, bringing the state’s death toll to 1,492 since the outbreak began, bringing its total to 116,348 cases.
State correctional officials also announced the second death of an inmate who tested positive for COVID-19 at the Two Rivers Correctional Institution in Umtila on Saturday. The man, said to be between 0 and 20 years old, is the 23rd prisoner to die after a positive test.
Ac vaccine administration in Reagan continues as it is across the country. State health officials said 190,500 doses have been delivered in Oregon. So far only 45,295 doses have been given, meaning that about 76% of the distributed vaccines have not yet been given.
The Department of Corrections told employees this week that it has given 400 doses of the Moderna vaccine. No more rounds of vaccinations will begin until Jan. 11 due to the vaccine shipment schedule, the department said.
The Reg Reagan Health Authority said it recorded 880 vaccine doses given Friday across the state, including 419 doses given Friday and 461 previous shots that have not yet been reported. All vaccinations take place in hospitals, long-term care facilities, EMS agencies, emergency care facilities and local health departments, the agency said.

New COVID death
The death of Oregon’s 1,491st COVID-19 is a 75-year-old woman from Hood River County who tested positive on Dec. 19 and died Jan. 1 at her residence. She had underlying conditions.
Reg Reagan’s 1,492nd COVID-19 death is a 95-year-old woman from Douglas County who tested positive on Dec. 31 and died Dec. 31 at Mercy Medical Center. The presence of internal conditions is being confirmed.
COVID-19 hospitalized
Across Oregon, the number of patients admitted to a hospital with COVID-19 is 468, 2 more than on Friday. There are 109 Kovid-19 patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) bed, no change since Friday.
