CONNECTICUT – There were ten new resident deaths, confirmed or suspected, and one more staff death attributed to COVID-19 in state nursing homes last week, according to the latest update released Friday by Governor Ned Lamont.
Another 47 residents have tested positive for the virus and another 38 employees have been confirmed to have COVID-19.
At state assisted living facilities, another resident died from the virus, confirmed or suspected, and three new cases were confirmed. Among staff, no new deaths were reported, but 22 more employees have tested positive for COVID-19.
The Department of Health and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services require Connecticut nursing homes to report the impact of COVID-19 on its residents and staff through the Center’s National Health Care Safety Network for Disease Control and Prevention. This report is intended to reflect recent COVID-19 activity in nursing homes.
“Today’s weekly report demonstrates yet again that Connecticut can keep COVID-19 low in nursing homes and assisted living communities by keeping COVID-19 low in our state,” Mag Morelli, President of LeadingAge Connecticut; Matt Barrett, President and CEO of the Association of Connecticut Health Care Centers; and Christopher Carter, president of the Connecticut Assisted Living Association, said in a press release. “The research shows a strong connection between the prevalence of COVID-19 in the community and the incidence of the virus entering our congregated settings. Still, the pandemic is far from over and our state must remain vigilant and continue to work together as a community to continue pushing the trajectory of the COVID-19 case on a downward path and protect our older adults. “
The following is a list of all Connecticut nursing homes with residents who tested positive for COVID-19, along with corresponding data related to the number of residential cases and deaths among residents at each facility.
