Conor McGregor says he “accepts” a fight with rising UFC star Khamzat Chimaev … but calm down everyone, it is far from official.
Here’s the deal … Khamzat, who has dominated his first 2 fights in the UFC, called Conor, Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal on social media on Thursday.
“I’m getting bored, please @danawhite give me @ NateDiaz209 @GamebredFighter @TheNotoriousMMA that same night,” Khamzat tweeted.
“I can crush all these guys … I’m not a cocky guy, I just trust. I understand if they don’t want to fight me.”
Moments later … Conor replied: “I accept!”
Khamzat replied with a bit of disgust: “I beg.”
So is this really going to happen?
We are approaching Dana White for some answers! Here is the situation …
White says that there is no official fight in progress for those two guys right now, so we asked if it would be possible at some point if the stars line up.
Dana’s response: “Probably not, but who knows?”
Let’s face it … Conor has been looking for rematches with Nate, Khabib and Floyd Mayweather, which would probably take precedence if he actually “retires.”
Meanwhile, Dana says the UFC is working to stage a different fight for Khamzat on August 29, which would be his third fight in just over a month!
If you’re unfamiliar, Chechnya-born Khamzat has an 8-0 record as a professional MMA fighter, and he outscored his last two opponents 192 to 2!
THAT’S CRAZY!!
So, hold your breath in Khamzat vs. Conor for now … but don’t lose hope.
By the way, Khamzat recently told us he would “crush” Conor in the first round if they ever fight. Dude is definitely not lacking in confidence!
