Connecticut is issuing initial fines of $ 1K to residents who violate travel advice

Connecticut on Monday handed out its first $ 1,000 fines to two residents who failed to fill out health forms upon returning home from states with high rates of coronavirus infection.

The residents, who were fined, traveled back to Connecticut from Louisiana and Florida several weeks ago, God Ned Lamont said Monday.

One of the two also failed to quarantine for the state’s mandate 14 days, and landed the unidentified fighter an additional $ 1,000 fine.

“I hate to do it, but we’ll be serious and show people that we’re serious about it,” Lamont said.

‘Overwhelmingly, people are doing the right thing. For the few of you who are not, please be aware. ‘

One person’s fine is from Windham County and the other is from Hartford County.

As of Tuesday, 32 states and two territories have been included on a shared list of travel advice applicable to travelers traveling to Connecticut, New York and New Jersey.

States land on the list if they have a 10 percent or higher positive coronavirus infection rate over a seven-day rolling average, as a new daily positive test rate exceeds 10 per 100,000 population.
