Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said one of the deputies, who was injured in a brazen ambush, was released from the hospital Wednesday.
“Good news, one of those deputies was released from the hospital today,” Villanueva tweeted Wednesday night. “It simply came to our notice then. But he is not alone. We, as a community, are in this together. ”
Villanueva did not identify the deputy, who was one of two bullets in the head as he sat in a marked car near a transportation station on Saturday.

The video of the attack shows a gunman in dark clothing walking up to his vehicle, setting fire to a passenger side window and fleeing.
Both deputies had been on the job for about 14 months, Villanueva said over the weekend.
Earlier Wednesday, the sheriff said investigators were pursuing “multiple leads” and believed they were making progress in a massive lawsuit for a gunman and a potential hired driver.
No suspects have been identified.

“Our detectives are confident they are on the right track,” Villanueva told Bill Hammer on “Bill Hammer Reports.”
A sheriff’s page, known as Ri, a 21-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man, has raised more than 50 550,000 to help injured deputies. Separately, a reward of more than ,000 300,000 – a combination of public funds and private donations – is being offered in this case.
The female deputy remained hospitalized in a stable condition after surgery. No further details were available.

The sheriff’s department has faced criticism in recent months for handling a number of incidents, including photos leaked in May in a helicopter crash that killed Corey Bryant and seven others. Bryant’s family is suing the department over the incident.
