Commission College Playoff says it is ready for next season

While the Big Ten and PAC-12 will not play this fall, the other three Power 5 conferences seem to be moving forward with plans for a 2020 season. The Big 12 and ACC have announced schedules for the 2020 season, while the SEC is set to announce its schedule next week.

As far as the conference championship games are concerned, it looks like the College Football Playoff committee will move even further and plans to have a College Football Playoff this season, as the commission has released a statement on its plans for this season .

“We do not know now what the season will bring, but as a commission we are ready to use the protocol and expertise of the 13 people charged with selecting the teams,” commission chairman and Iowa- athletic director Gary Barta said.

“The task of the commission is to rank the teams based on what is happening on the field. This week gave us a great opportunity to pick up the familiar faces and welcome our three new members to the process. If the council and management committee say we have a CFP, we will be ready. ”

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney weighed the legitimacy of a champion this season, with two of the top five conferences not playing this season.

‘Whoever wins, wins it. That’s the champion, ”Swinney told reporters on Wednesday. ‘It’s the same way in every sport. … Someone wins a championship, so maybe it’s a shortened season, maybe it’s not as many teams as anything. But you believe best that whoever wins it should deserve it. No one will give anything to anyone, so you can only control what you control. “
