Comedian Ricky Gervais reflects on the epic Golden Globes speech aimed at hypocritical celebrities

Comedian Ricky Gervais called his Golden Globes speech “quite zeitgeisty” after chasing celebrities for being hypocritical.

Gervais reflected on his speech in an interview published Thursday by Yahoo Entertainment.

CLOCK:

“It was quite zeitgeisty,” he told the store. “I guess because people were tired of being taught by billionaires to recycle when they were flying in private jets. So I think people were tired of hypocrisy. “

People are really tired of it. If you are going to preach to people that we need to improve or be better, then you had better do everything you can to be better too. Instead, it just comes out as a bunch of hypocrisy. (RELATED: Ricky Gervais beats celebrities with a joke about diversity after the anti-racism video ‘I Take Responsibility’)

Gervais also spoke about how he likes that a celebrity can make a joke, specifically Leonardo DiCaprio. The comedian joked that “at the end” of the “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” premiere, “his date was too old for him.”

“But on the other hand, when I joked with Leonardo, and he really laughed, people loved that! People love that a celebrity says, “You got me.” That is all you have to do, “said Gervais.

People really need to be better to be laughed at. Sometimes it’s okay to laugh at yourself.
