Columbus Zoo safely locates the missing red panda, Kora

The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium has safely located a missing red panda named Kora, who was last seen on Tuesday night.

According to a Facebook post, two guests saw her on the ground among the dense foliage between the rhino habitat and the entrance of a building in the zoo’s Asia Quest region.

“As members of her care team previously suspected, she was not far from her habitat and her cubs. The guests quickly reported their sighting to team members at 4:43 pm, who immediately called the zoo’s Animal Health and Safety teams, “the staff said.

When the team arrived on the scene, Kora climbed a nearby tree and refused to go down alone. Concerned about the moving rain clouds in the area, a decision was made to reassure her.

They then took her to the animal health center for evaluation and gave her a clean health certificate.

“Kora has returned to her habitat in Asia Quest, where she will have the opportunity to be reunited with her cubs when she wakes up. Their care team will continue to monitor throughout the night to ensure they continue well, and the father of the red panda, General Tso, will have an opportunity to join them in the morning. “

The Columbus Zoo concluded its publication by thanking the community for their support.
