Jamain Stephens, the son of a University of California Pennsylvania footballer and former Steelers first-round pick, has died at the age of 20 due to COVID-19 complications.
Stephens played the last three se tuos at the University of California, which canceled this football season due to an epidemic.
“Jamin was a wonderful student with a smile on his face whenever you saw him,” said Karen Harpe, athletic director at the University of California Penn Pennsylvania, in a statement. “His personality was contagious and had such a positive effect on everyone he met.”
Pit Safety Stephens’ high school teammate Damar Humlin wrote about his death on Twitter.
“Gone away from practice and heard bad news. Rip juice, ”Hamel wrote. “The most realistic and caring soul on this planet. You w / love and laughed a lot. Stephens’ father, also known as Jamain Stephens, played for the Steelers from 1996 to 1998 and for the Bengals from 1999 to 2001.
