Although this was the least major upheaval in college league football this past week, the return of the Big Ten added to the conspiracy.
Ohio State, Wisconsin and Michigan were cruised, but Indiana’s OT win against Penn State was the biggest defeat.
How do we rank teams in the Big Ten and other conferences? Our writers had weight.

The final crew of SEC Football.com discusses how Bale’s most famous player, Jalen Waddell, will be replaced for next season.
We are S.E.C. Arriving halfway through the regular season, and looking for good luck where we are going.
Besides Alabama, is there a scheduled item found?
Georgia, Florida and Texas A&M are in second tier, but they all have significant issues.
Georgia’s offense is inconsistent, and Statson Bennett may not be the answer in the quarterback. Florida plays almost no defense. And who really knows about Texas A&M? The Eggs – and quarterback Callen Mond – are hard to believe.
Arkansas, which was considered the SEC’s worst team, checked at No. 5 and would be 3-1 if not for a bad call in a game of -1 burn.
He knows everyone can beat everyone except Alabama. Just ask LSU, which is back at .500 after inevitably losing the state of Mississippi. Even better, ask Mississippi State, which has come down from the cliff by beating LSU.
Last week, Kentucky beat Tennessee in Knoxville for the first time since 1984, winning by 27 points. Then the Kentucky sub.500 made its way to Mizo and lost by 10.

Big Ten
The Big Ten kicked off its season on Saturday and the conference came out swinging. Indiana ended an overtime win with a controversial 2-point conversion against Penn State, the Rutgers lost their 21-game conference victory over Michigan State, and Wisconsin quarterback Graham Mertz put himself on an excellent national radar.

Large 12
As we reach the halfway point of the big 12 seasons, there are two teams left with a narrow conference record: Kansas State and Oklahoma State.
That’s not what was expected at the start of the season, but both teams have played some quality ball at this stage. Oklahoma State’s defense has been stellar (48 points allowed in four games) and he has done well against Iowa State. Kansas State won its fourth straight win over rival Kansas on Saturday. Freshman Will Howard turned his second start into an encouraging performance.
Oklahoma have won two in a row since the rough start of the season, dominating TCU on Saturday, while Texas, desperately in need of a win, got one by closing Baylor on Saturday afternoon. The Red Raiders lost their previous five games against FBS opponents who were determined by eight points or less after Wade beat Virginia by touchdown for a key victory in the Matt Wales era, behind Texas Tech, freshman QB Henry Columbi. – Sam Khan Jr.

ACC
Wake Forest true refresher and walk-on safety Nick Anderson got three interceptions to help the Damon Ducks upset the Virginia Tech 23-18.
Breaking News: Clemson and Notre Dame are clear favorites in the ACC. The Tigers faltered in the third quarter against Syracuse, but kept Orange away from the rest, and Notre Dame’s best offensive performance of the year for the Irish clearly shattered the Rilling Pit team. The two will face off on November 7 in terms of what the league’s game figure will be.
If it’s all clear, something more interesting in the league is in the middle of the pack. Wake Forest looked lost after a 0-2 start but has returned with three straight wins, including a strainer, at No. 19 Virginia Tech on Saturday. Boston College College has embraced a whole new identity behind the passing game with Phil Jurkovic and first-year coach Jeff Hafley, which has turned the Eagles into one of ACC’s more explosive teams. North Carolina, Miami, Virginia Tech and NC State also have all-star moments and a few ugliness this season.
In other words, there are two clear off-field competitors at the top of the league, but the depth of the league has been the best over the years. – David M. Hell

Cincinnati responded to its latest challenge, beating SMU in the second half of a -134-1 win, strengthening its position as the front-runner in the new group of five. Although we’d like to add a potential College Ledge Football Playoff contender to the mix, we’ve all seen this story unfold.
Every unbeaten non-power 5 team has been looking outwards in the national championship race. Still, Cincinnati is looking good, and its 29-point win over SMU was the biggest margin of victory over the ranked team in the program’s history. We also welcome the addition of Boise State, who beat 42 TT House 426-1-13 in their season opener.
The tough decision this week was finding out where to rank Boise State, given that everyone else has played almost half the season. We have the Broncos behind Coastal Carolina for now. But if the Broncos are able to regain the Air Force next Saturday, our popcorn will be ready for the match against BYU on November 6th. – Andrea Adelson
