Collapsed road, others flooded; Cars Stuck in Hartford – NBC Connecticut


One road has collapsed, others are flooded and cars are stuck after heavy thunderstorms in the Hartford area on Friday afternoon.

Police said Airport Road in Hartford, east of Wethersfield Avenue, has collapsed. They urge people to avoid the area.

Police said Buckingham Street and John Street, along with Hillside Avenue and Hamilton Street, are flooded and the cars are stuck. Monroe Street in the 40 block is also flooded. Police reportedly said the cars are trapped in the water at Brainard and Murphy Road.

According to the police, there is heavy flooding in the Franklin and South area along with Bonner Street and Hillside Avenue.

There is heavy flooding in the Catherine Street and Zion Street area.

A Hartford Hospital spokeswoman said there is minor flooding at the front of the hospital. The flooding is not currently affecting patient care, he said.

The Interstate 91 roundabout ramp at Hartford was flooded.

The I-91 ramp outside the roundabout in Hartford was flooded after heavy thunderstorms in the area.

Hartford Police said the city is experiencing a lot of rain. They said that flash floods occurred and that water is stagnant in certain areas.

No injuries have been reported at this time.

Drivers are urged to proceed with caution and drive safely.
