Baltimore Realos gave Cole Hamels a rude welcome back to the Major League Baseball tonight. They scored three runs against him as they finally have a comfortable 5-1 win over our Atlanta Braves in the evening.
It turns out that the starter for Baltimore will end up becoming the main story of tonight’s game. During his debut tonight, Keegan Akin proves that what happened in his previous start against the Yankees was really just a blow of misfortune. Akin proved himself in an attempt to dismiss nine Brave batsmen over five innings while conceding just three hits and one run. Simply put, Brave couldn’t really go all night against Akhin – it looked like the starter version of Baltimore that showed up to the park on September 5 instead of the pot that appeared on September 11th.
Brave being concealed by Akin, Cole Hamsels was busy at work during the first start of his season. We already knew that Hamels would only throw 50-60 pitches from tonight, so whether Hamels could stop the Orioles from doing a ton of damage is a matter of when he was there. It was also hoped that Hales would be able to move again at this stage without any health problems or injuries.
The good news is that Hamels was successful in getting his innings and it looks like he’s good at moving things forward and going a little further during his next start. The bad news is that Riolos managed to get 1.1 innings, which he won when Hamels was out. Hamel made the third innings after a short-no-event in his first innings when Baltimore dismissed him and started making some runs against him. Austin Hayes started the third inning with a double and then Hanser Alberto turned left to put Baltimore in the lead with the first run of the game after Hamels hunted after his first (and only) walk of the night.
Cole Hamsell retired the next three batsmen in order, but it came at the expense of two more runs for the first two outs – Jose Iglesias picked RBI on the groundout and then Ryan Mountkasley took a sacrificial fly behind him. It was 3-0 in favor of Real after the end of the third inning and the score was the same after Hamels left the game after getting the first match from the fourth inning. This outing was less than one might expect from a watch that made its first start in almost the entire calendar year. Hamels was not spectacular, but he (in terms of health) came out of the riders and hopefully he will be able to try to get back into the shape of the game as the brave October approaches October.
Once the sixth inning was rotated, Baltimore chose to go out of the pen with Dillon Tate as their first relief and this is when the Braves finally made a small display of life on the plate. Freddie Freeman continued his on-base streak with a single on the sixth ball and then he made it to the second on a passing ball and then a third on the groundout. He finally got home when Dillon Tate killed Boom – and it was one of the rare occasions where even the pot knew he had done something illegal. It was the only run that the Braves pushed forward in the sixth and it was also the only run that the Braves scored for the entire game. Yeah Al that sounds pretty crap to me, Looks like BT aint for me either.
Ri Realos responded to Atlanta’s lone run in sixth place, putting them on two more scoreboards to make it 5-1 in Baltimore’s favor. Josh Tomley entered the game to relieve Cole Hamels and was originally assigned a long relief duty after a short trip aimed at the starter. Tomlin retired the first five batters he had seen and then got a little bopped as soon as the sixth inning began. Jose Iglesias continued to punish Brave as he started an innings, which Pedro Severino eventually made with his own. This ended with Renato Nunez hitting a two-run lead in a corner in the left field that was clear enough to put Oriole out of the reach of the Braves tonight.
The game eventually ended in a 1-1 draw in favor of Rio and now Brave will move to New York after leaving the series at Bves Tivar. Luckily, Brave is still above 500 on this road trip as he avoids cleaning up and he’s ready to enjoy before entering the last part of the ongoing games to end the season’s final off-day season.
To end things on a slightly positive note so as not to end up on this full boomer, here Marcel Ozuna runs home during the fourth inning of the game. I can honestly say that I didn’t expect it to happen at any time this season, but that’s why I’m just a blogger and I don’t get paid to make decisions for the Atlanta Braves.
