Cold, flu or coronavirus symptoms? How to tell if it’s Covid-19 (video)

The coronavirus epidemic is still at the forefront of our minds, we should now swing with the time of year when cases of cold and flu begin to grow.

It is important to be careful to wash your hands, wear a mask and stay home if you are sick.

But if you feel sick, how can you tell what illness you are?

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention breaks down the differences between these highly contagious respiratory diseases.

People with a cold are more likely to have a runny or stuffy nose, and their symptoms are usually milder than the flu. Colds usually do not lead to serious health problems such as pneumonia, bacterial infections or hospitalization.

Flu and Covid-19 can lead to serious illness and complications.

Both the flu and Covid-19 commonly share symptoms of dry cough, fever, chills, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle or body aches, headaches and fatigue.

Taste and odor and shortness of breath (without underlying conditions such as asthma) are also common symptoms of Covid-19.

Diarrhea, ause nausea and vomiting can sometimes be symptoms of the flu and Covid-19.

The onset of flu is always dramatic (showing symptoms within 1-4 days) while Covid-19 has been shown to be a more subtle onset. People with coronavirus may not show symptoms for up to 14 days after infection. Time range may vary.

People with colds and flu usually show symptoms for 14 days or less, while people with coronavirus can show symptoms anywhere from seven to 25 days.

Frustration, some Kovid-19 infected people show no symptoms.

There is currently no vaccine to prevent covid-19. The best way to prevent infection is to avoid exposure to the virus.

The flu vaccine is the only important way to prevent seasonal flu.

The CDC consistently recommends that people be vaccinated against the flu by the end of October. At the same time it can save hospitals from being overwhelmed by flu and coronavirus patients.

If you get the vaccine, then get the flu as well, said Dr. J. Jararod Bagtel of Upstate Medical University. The vaccine will reduce your symptoms.

“If you don’t get the flu vaccine, it suffers a little more than what would have happened,” said Baglat, who led Upesta’s influenza vaccination efforts. “So I don’t know anyone out there who wouldn’t take the opportunity to be less sick than they might be otherwise.”

The flu is more dangerous and potentially fatal than many people realize, said the head of infectious disease at Upstate Medical University, Dr. Said Steven Thomas.

According to the CDC, the 2019-2020 flu season killed 188 children with the flu in the U.S. According to the CDC, only 21% of children across the country were fully vaccinated against the flu in 2019-2020. The coronavirus killed 103 children as of Sept. 10, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Overall, the flu killed more than 24,000 people of all ages and hospitalized more than 410,000 last season.
