There are many creative ways to smuggle cocaine into a country if you try hard enough. Case in point: these cocaine-filled coffee beans (seen above) that Italian authorities seized at Milan’s Malpensa airport. How did the police think to look inside the beans in the first place? Because while the Colombian exporters were smart enough to find a cache that we all have to admit is pretty impressive, they weren’t smart enough to find a decent fake name to send the package.
According to TMZThe police said their suspicions were raised when someone noticed that the package was directed at Santino D’Antonio, who turns out to be the name of the mob boss in John Wick: Chapter 2. After releasing the cocaine hounds over 5 pounds. package, customs officials vivisected the cargo, finding 150 grams of coca cola divided between 500 individual coffee beans. Check out the video below published by the Guardia di Finanza (a militarized police force under the command of Italy Minister of Economy and Finance), in which individual coffee beans are cut to reveal their powder content:
Although the name on the package was fake, the address was very real, allowing the police to easily apprehend the man who tried to pick it up from a tobacco shop in Florence. The police did not disclose the real name of “Santino D’Antonio”, but certainly I have my suspicions.
