CNN presenter John Berman had a contentious exchange with White House business adviser Peter Navarro about his terminology for the coronavirus outbreak.
Towards the end of a long and tense interview on Wednesday morning, Navarro tried to turn Berman around by asking him a question.
“The Chinese Communist Party infected this nation with a deadly virus,” Navarro began as he spoke in front of the White House.
“No,” Berman reacted quickly before Navarro asked why the Americans are “fighting” among themselves. “Maybe you want to ask me that question. I invite you to ask the guy sitting behind you. And I will say that this virus that is infecting the United States right now is …”

“The China virus. The CCP virus,” said Trump’s adviser, smiling.
“We let you say that once, Peter, please don’t say it again on this show,” Berman replied.
“The China virus,” Navarro repeated with a smile.

“Very well, Peter Navarro, we appreciate you being with us”, the presenter of the “New Day” began to conclude the interview. “I know what you are trying to do there. There are Asian Americans who have told us that they have become the source of crime.”
“The CCP virus, my friend. We love the Chinese people, John. They are workers and they are under the rule of an authoritarian government,” added Navarro.
