CNN was accused of “various sides” of the family of the late David Dorn against each other after his widow, Sgt. Ann Marie Dorn, speaking Thursday at the Republican National Convention.
Dorn, a retired police officer in St. Louis. Louis, who was shot and killed during the violence and looting that followed widespread protests over racial justice in June, has emerged as a hero to many and is a symbol of the worst case scenario of what could happen during violent riots.

CNN was accused of “various sides” of the family of the late David Dorn against each other.
CNN did not name Dorn on air when the news broke that he was tragically murdered. However, the liberal network covered Dorn’s story Thursday after his widow’s emotional RNC speech.

CNN’s Chris Cuomo sent out a clip from Ann Dorn’s speech and then immediately stated that “David’s daughters … they say their father did not want this speech to happen” and they believe the former St. Louis does not want to use his name to help portray President Trump.
Cuomo then accused two of Dorn’s daughters of joining CNN and his widow’s RNC speech (Ann Dorn is not the mother of Dorn’s adult children who joined CNN).
Media Research Center analyst Nicholas Fondacaro called Cuomo “contemptible” for parting ways with his grieving family.
“@ChrisCuomo is so contemptible that he has no problem putting different sides of a grieving family against each other. This is another instance of @CNN “Attacking Ann Dorn, the widow of Captain David Dorn who was killed by a left-wing mob,” Fondacaro tweeted.
During CNN’s RNC coverage, Jake Tapper and Abby Phillip also criticized Dorn’s widow before even speaking, claiming that the real victim was not around to decide if he should be named during a political speech.

Despite CNN’s criticism, Ann Marie Dorn’s emotional speech was well received by many.
David Dorn was assassinated while trying to protect Lee’s pawn shop, Lee’s Pawn and Jewelry, in the early hours of June 2nd. Several cities across the country experienced violence and looting during the widespread protests during the assassination of George Floyd, an unarmed Black man while in Minneapolis police possession.
Stephan Cannon, 24, a suspect in the murder of David Dorn, was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, criminal in possession of a firearm and three charges of armed criminal action, St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kimberly M. Gardner announced in June.

Video surveillance of the building where the shooting took place and neighboring businesses shows the last moments of David Dorn. David Dorn was killed by looters who broke into the pawn shop and his body was found on the sidewalk at 2:30 p.m., according to investigators.
“Violence and destruction are not legitimate forms of protest,” the widow of the late police officer said Thursday. “It simply came to our notice then. They destroy them. ”
