Clippers’ Patrick Beverley has exciting exchange with union director Michele Roberts: report

The meeting of the NBA players on the question of whether they should resume the play-offs amid a protest against the brutality of the police that emerged from the shooting of Jacob Blake in Wisconsin, apparently covered an exciting moment between Los Angeles Clippers guard Patrick Beverley and union executive director Michele Roberts.

Beverley appeared to be overwhelmed by Roberts over the possible financial impact of canceling the playoffs in the name of social justice, Yahoo Sports reported Friday.

The veteran was reportedly heated with the interview. Roberts asked if she could continue with her point, and Beverley, according to Yahoo Sports, replied, “No, I’m paying your salary.”

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Chris Paul and Miami Heat frontman Udonis Haslem apparently had to intervene in the conversation between the two and told Beverley that the disrespect of the union leader during the meeting would not be tolerated.

The players would later agree to continue with the rest of the season.

The Milwaukee Bucks went on strike on Wednesday and did not report to court for their Game 5 matchup against the Orlando Magic. It resulted in several games being postponed and had a trickle-down effect in the WNBA, MLB and eventually the NHL.
