Cleveland Indians-White Sox will play traditional double game on Tuesday after Monday’s postponement

CLEVELAND, Ohio – A threat of rain on Monday night has prompted the Indians and White Sox to schedule their first double game of the 60-game seasons on Tuesday afternoon. It has also given the Indians a chance to shuffle their rotation in preparation for their first trip of the season, a trip that begins with a four-game series against the Twins at Target Field beginning Thursday.

Originally, the Indians were to start with Aaron Civale, Zach Plesac, and Shane Bieber in the three-game series against the White Sox. After Monday’s rain, righties Civale and Adam Plukto will start Tuesday’s doubleheader with the first game starting at 3:40 pm The White Sox will start with right-hander Dylan Cease and left-hander Carlos Rodon.

Plesac will begin the series finale against Chicago on Wednesday, allowing Bieber to begin the series opener against the Twins on Thursday. It means the Indians can start their two best starters at Bieber and Clevinger against the Twins.

The Twins ended the Indians’ three-year career as AL Central champions last year by winning 101 games.

Bieber is 3-0 with a 4.14 ERA against the Twins. He faced them eight times, seven as a starter. Clevinger 4-3 with a 2.79 ERA against Minnesota. He has vanished them 14 times, 11 as a starter.

At the end of the first game, both teams will take a break of approximately 20 minutes before the start of the second week.
