Clayton Kershaw dominates as the Dodgers take their first double-header game

Clayton Kershaw looked like his vintage self on Thursday afternoon when he threw six goalless innings in LA’s 7-0 victory over the Giants.

For the game, Kershaw threw six goalless innings, struck out four and made no walks. This came as no surprise, as he dominated the Giants throughout his entire career. Today, however, the Giants simply had no chance against him.

San Francisco had only four hits against him, and had only one runner in scoring position once. Donovan Solano led the second inning with a double, but was stranded on the third base because the Giants did not let him in. They put a runner on second base in the third as well, but Kershaw managed to escape the inning unscathed.

Over the last four innings, the Giants were 1-for-13.

Kershaw is now 4-1 on the season with a 1.80 ERA. Look no further, but he’s making a mid-season for yet another Cy Young Award.

All Kershaw needed on Thursday afternoon was one run of support. Instead, the Dodgers gave him seven runs. With the exception of Justin Turner, everyone in the starting line reached base.

LA came on the board in the first inning as a ground from Cody Bellinger brought in the run. The Giants followed almost the entire game. The offense would go silent until the fourth inning, where they put four runs on the board. Overall, everyone contributed that inning. AJ Pollock ran, Chris Taylor and Joc Pederson reached with singles and Austin Barnes doubled to bring in two.

Barnes came in to score on a single from Corey Seager, giving LA the 5-0 lead. They would put two more points on the board in the seventh inning when AJ Pollock placed his sixth homer of the season with a two-run shot.

Oh, and congratulations to Mookie Betts for recording the 1,000th hit of his career!
