Clark County counts 106 new cases of COVID-19, a new fatality over the weekend


Clark County Public Health reported 106 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and one new fatality since Friday.

The death was a man in his 60s with underlying health conditions, Public Health reported Monday. His death brings the total county deaths associated with COVID-19 to 33.

The 106 new cases reported Monday are calculated to an average of about 35 cases per day on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays, according to public health. It brings the total number of confirmed Clark County COVID-19 cases to 1,272 to date.

As of Monday, 26 people have been hospitalized at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center or Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center with diagnosed cases of COVID-19. Seven other people under investigation by COVID-19 were also hospitalized.

The increase in cases has raised the county’s infection rate over a two-week period to 55.1 per 100,000 residents, more than double the allowed level before the county could move to more relaxed Phase 3 reopening restrictions.

As of Saturday, Washington state has 40,656 cases and 1,438 deaths. Some 4,700 people are hospitalized.
