Cindy McCain is the last Republican to speak on behalf of Biden at convention

IN short clip of the video that will play Tuesday describes the introduction of Biden and McCain. Biden was a young senator from Delaware and McCain, a liaison of the Navy First Chamber after his release as a prisoner of war from Vietnam, and McCain was commissioned to be a military aid worker for Biden for a trip abroad. The two eventually became friends, with their families gathered for picnics in the backyard of Bidens.

‘They would just sit and joke. It was sometimes a comedy show to watch the two of them, “says Cindy McCain in the short clip, which is interspersed with clips of Biden and her husband playing each other.

McCain is far from the only big Republican name to speak on behalf of Biden during this week’s convention. The opening night of the meeting, on Monday, included remarks from former Ohio governor and presidential candidate GOP of President John Kasich in 2016, as well as other Republican politicians who support Biden over Trump.

The late Arizona senator openly feuded with President Donald Trump, who mocked McCain’s status as a war hero and continues to this day to mock McCain’s role in Republicans’ attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act . Trump was not invited to McCain’s funeral and later complained that the McCain family was not grateful enough to him for aspects of his memorial services.

While McCain’s daughter Meghan signaled this spring that she would vote for Biden, Cindy McCain dropped a report last year that her family could throw their support behind Biden.

Biden, sy sei at the moment, is “a wonderful man and a friend of the McCain family. However, I do not intend to be able to participate in presidential politics.”
